Job Description:      

The strategy team is seeking a research coordinator with qualitative research experience to assist with the WCH Community Voices Initiative, which is focused on understanding the perspectives and needs of women, non-binary and transgender and individuals experiencing inequitable healthcare due to sex, gender, race, ability, and other social determinants of health. This research is important as it will play a critical role in uncovering emerging needs, shaping our strategy, as well as informing the development of new programs and services to ensure we continue to provide the best possible care.

The first phase of this research involved an online survey. We are now in phase two of the study, in which we are completing a series of focus groups to illicit insights that may not have been captured in the survey component and/or to dig deeper into preliminary insights gathered from the survey. The research coordinator will have a pivotal role in the focus groups as well as the associated data analysis and write-up of findings.

Summary of Duties, but not limited to:

  • Coordinate and oversee aspects of the focus groups such as setting timelines, data collection and data analysis.
  • Assist with data analysis, including coding.
  • Monitor the progress and deadlines of research activities, develop and maintain records of research activities, and establish and maintain operating policies and procedures.
  • Proactively identifies barriers/threats/risks for project completion and works with team members to develop solutions.
  • Perform aspects of research protocol, as required, in accordance with specified program objectives. (e.g. participant recruitment, data collection, preparing data for analyses, etc.)
  • Prepare periodic and ad hoc summaries/reports. Complete Research Ethics Board (REB) renewals/amendments as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to write and edit the final report, presentations, manuscripts, and conference materials.
  • Support knowledge translation activities, including a dissemination meeting and preparing social media/blog posts.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in healthcare related field.
  • Experience with qualitative research, in particular analysing focus group transcripts.
  • Competence with tools for qualitative data analysis such as NVIVO.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • A background in the field of health equity is an asset.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word preferred.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
  • Demonstrated WCH vision, mission, and values.
